George Carvery (Danny Glover) has waited nine years to avenge his son's fate at the hands of Donnie. When they meet face to face, Carvery surprisingly overcomes his need for revenge. He wants to get on with his life and let Donnie do the same.

As the barely contained racism boils to the surface, Carvery undertakes to train Donnie for the fight. Their partnership makes them outcasts from both tribes who will only be satisfied by blood in the ring.
