Alyson is a recently separated mother who moves into a new home with her daughter, Claire. When they move into the new home, Claire finds a doll left by the previous owners. After Claire starts acting strangely, Alyson brings her to a psychologist. She believes the root of Claire's behavior is the pending divorce. The doll and Claire form an unnatural bond, so whenever the doll is bumped or pulled, Claire will show the bruises. This fact makes the psychologist think Claire is being abused, but Alyson begins to suspect the truth about the bond between her daughter and the doll. When the doll begins killing those who get in the way of its connection with the little girl, Alyson could find herself the target. She must find a way to get rid of the doll without hurting her daughter.
